It says on the paint sheet that citrus green (43) is not available on LS-6 cars???? Wonder why that was. what difference did it make?

Thank you for all of the feedback on my qestions. I would like to post a few pics of what I found on my firewall and hopefully some one can comment. I realize this car is no Yenko, COPO, LS6, L-78, but I appreciate your time in replying. Here is a shot of the writing on the firewall that I saw after stripping it.

Thanks,

Here is a photo of the stamped number that was found inside the car, on the interior side of the firewall, under the blower motor and inside of the duct area on the passenger side. (hope that makes sense) It reads 13437Z19.

Here is a pic of the stamping on the firewall taken from the engine compartment side of the firewall. The blower motor opening is partially visible in the upper right corner to provide perspective to the location.

Over the entire firewall front surface I have not found a "hidden VIN."

I have a 1969 ex-drag V8 Chevelle (now pro street) in my garage and the hidden vin is clearly visible and reads K9 and the last 6 digits of the vin... I found it under the blower motor area. Inner fenders, blower housing etc. are obviously not intact.

I guess that is why they call it a hidden vin and not a hidden body code.

Thanks for your help so far understanding the body code type stamping on the firewall.

Should I expect to find a hidden VIN somewhere else or could GM have missed stamping this unit? I did not find a stamp near the gas tank filler recess on the rear of the body as suggested in a previous post.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Re: 70 SS Body Tag, Vin Plate, Firewall Stamp Question

My opinion (may not be the correct one) is that the number you have found inside the heater duct area is not a # that should match up with your body style #. I don't know what that # is (13437Z19) but it looks an awful lot like the same type of # SS427 was referring to that some cars have stampled on the body near the gas tank filler recess. I have seen some of these #'s and they also look much like the number you have listed in the heater duct area on your car.....same number of digits with a letter included. Maybe Rick / Minneapolis can chime in on what his research has shown him about the numbers stamped on the body near the gas tank filler recess.

I don't believe that the fact that the # you have found in the heater duct area does not match the body serial # for this year/model is any indication that the car is not what it has been touted to be.
