A freind of mine went back to quiet Dynomax mufflers and 2 1/2" exhaust on his Chevelle so as not to annoy the neighbours. On the dyno the car made the same 371 RWHP that it did before. Sounds stock. Looks stock. Isn't stock. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

If you're using those bullets by themselves you'd better buy earplugs...

Interesting thread! What about this . . .

A '76 Camaro with a '69 small block . . .

Is it required to run a Catalytic Conv.?

Re: loud exhaust citations

No, because no car in 69 had cats. I'm not sure cats were OEM until the early or mid 80's, but I'm probably wrong. Anyway, 1975 and earlier cars in California are smog exempt so the cops are not looking for smog violations if you're stopped.

Re: loud exhaust citations

However in California, the engine must be the same year or newer that the vehicle, unless the vehicle is smog exempt. So in the scenario presented, a 69 engine in a 76 Camaro would not be legal in California... until after January 2006. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I'm not familiar with the letter of the law in CA, but normally, that's not illegal. But the engine would have to meet the 76 emissions.

Re: loud exhaust citations

Sorry, but there's no chance in he11 it would pass emissions . . .

not too worried though, cops in wisconsin just ignore you in cars like this . . .

I've seen far worse newer vehicles out there!!!
