Re: Z-28 For sale
WOW, you guys can hijack a thread quicker then D.B Sweeney.
Back on the subject at hand and a couple questions. I noticed under the car what looks like undercoating. Is this correct and the reason I am asking is because the 70 Z I am restoring has the same looking undercoating on it and I want to make sure I do it correctly. I am not saying his car is wrong so don't shoot me. I want mine done as close to correct as possible. Also if anybody knows, what is the build date of the car? The car is awesome and is a model for others. Rick H. |
Re: Z-28 For sale
I have a question that mabey someone here can answer. Jacks car is a CA built and sold new in CA. I looked at the car when Jack had it. Mine is also CA built and sold there. Should the car have a 4489 carb and the heat shield 3972156? My charcol canister has 4 hose outlets. One is marked "carb bowl". On the 4489 there is a vent tube that comes off the front bowl for this hose to attach to. From what I can find, all CA built and sold cars should have this. The build sheet for mine has N32. So should Jacks car have these parts to be 100%?

Yes..I believe that you are correct, and I see a Charcoal cannister on Jacks car in the engine picture.

Re: Z-28 For sale
Below I have pictures of my Original Unrestored 1970 LA Camaro. The ONLY factory undercoating was in the rear wheel house/trunk extension area.....I also have excellent pics of Jack S's car which will be VINTAGE certified this Friday at Camaros at Carlisle.
Any other undercoating other then below was applied at the dealer level or beyond..... Chuck Sharin http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...lChevyShow.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...d/IM000721.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...yOverspray.jpg |
Re: Z-28 For sale
Nice pics Chuck, I like to see the original cars like that - not all cars got loaded up with the undergunk at the factory. My deuce was that way, light on the undercoating and light on the overspray on the floorboards.

Re: Z-28 For sale
Being a LA. car it has the black primmer not Red oxide and yes it has some light undercoating. It may have been dealer applied because it wasn't above the Trans or in the driveshaft tunnel. Everything Tony said is correct to the LA cars, this car has the 4489 carb minus the heatshield which it should have (just could never find the correct one) My Norwood car is just like Chucks on the underside. All in all the Green car is a nice car, just wish it would find a home, having a hard time keeping up with it myshelf. Was hoping to see it at Carlisle next week.
