Re: Link on the net to decode SS Chevelle ? wheels????

Re: Link on the net to decode SS Chevelle ? wheels????
That one is great unfortunately it is out of print. But the Jerry MacNeish books on the 67-68 Z and the Definitive 69Z and SS396 book is excellent. I reference it all the time. Decoding key for almost every part. These books don't cover basic Camaros that much.
Also, the Chevrolet by the Numbers is supposed to be a very good book. That one I don't have. |
Re: Link on the net to decode SS Chevelle ? wheels????
I can probably find one around on e bay I guess...I want one that covers all the different models of the camaro and options etc....worth searching for???

Re: Link on the net to decode SS Chevelle ? wheels????
I don't have anything that covers first gen completely. That 69 Camaro Hooper book and MacNeish book on the Z cover all I need.
Who has the Chevrolet By the Numbers Book!!?? Is it worth it? RICK! RICK! Somebody check his house and see if the Motion sign fell on him. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Link on the net to decode SS Chevelle ? wheels????
I have the by the numbers book its pretty good but like Colvin says in the beginning he had ethical concerns and did cut loose with the Camaro info he has/had..at the time it was printed....I guess I need a couple more books around was hoping to only have to spend 30 or so bucks and get just one that worked well....I have wondered how much info is just copied from the last guy that wrote one anyway then releases a so called new book.....

Colvin's
Chevrolet By the Numbers Books are great Different books for different years 1955-1964 1965-1969 which covers Camaro/Corette/Bel Air/Chevy II/Nova/Chevelle/Impala/El Camino 1970-1975 which covers the same cars above. To give you a insight on what the 65-69 book covers by chapters: Vehicle Identification Engine Codes Engine Block Crankshaft Cylinder Heads Connecting Rods Pistons Carburetor Intake Manifold Exhaust Manifolds Water Pump Distributor Camshaft Alternator Transmission Rear Axle/Differential Wheels Rochester Fuel Injections Engines Covered 283/302/307/327/350/396/409/427 the 70-75 book covers engines 262/307/350/400/402/454 Needless to say I am on my 2nd book for both years. I would recommend it since it has good diagrams/parts listing along with sections on date codes for the different parts and how the codes break down. Any book store like Boarders carries them. |
