Re: General question about Yenko colors
I believe the color choices were just what Don happened to like, and what he thought would sell. I think he limited the colors just to make it easier to keep track of the cars for inventory purposes, etc. If you notice, he usually ordered a specific number in each color, rather than a random mix of colors and quantities of each color. Why he didn't chose certain colors is probably the same reason any of us wouldn't choose certain colors... personal preference. Speaking of which, I'll take FG over GB any day, thank you very much. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: General question about Yenko colors
To my knowledge 3.
The one listed for Friedly Olds, IA is/was owned by Reggie Jackson. The one listed for Yenko Chevrolet was 'Junked' per PA-DOT in 1976. The one listed for W.R.Austin in CT is status-unknown, however it was bought new by a Henry Boyd of South Norwalk, CT. |

Re: General question about Yenko colors
I know of 2 1970 LS6's that were delivered with green bench cloth seat interiors,& painted Code #50 Gobi Beige.
Today they are alive & well,& painted Red w/Black bucket seats. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif While reading an old CARS issue, writer Joe Oldham talks about ordering his 1969 Phase III MOTiON Camaro in triple black from Baldwin Chevrolet. He goes onto to say how the order was returned to Dave Bean in August 1968,because Black paint was not possible on a 1969 Camaro then. They made a few phone calls,& confirmed this from the factory. However, that factory voice did say that if the car were to be used for some special purpose,(such as a magazine road test),then the dealer could place what is called a "deviational order".This type of order must be approved by the local zone office, the regional zone office, the central zone office, and the Detroit headquarters of the company.Joe was informed that the paperwork alone for this special order, would take an extra 6 to 8 weeks. So he waited and went through the corporate red tape, and finally recieved his triple black 1969 Camaro much later on. Joel Rosen then finished the car just in time for the New York Rod & Custom show to display it there. Maybe this could have been a possible reason why no 1969 Yenko Camaros were delivered in Black? |
Re: General question about Yenko colors
I read that Joe Oldham kept his '69 Phase III in the carport at his apartment. He chased off car thieves several times but I think they finally stole the car.

Re: General question about Yenko colors
Are there any special order paint yenko's for customers? Such as butternut yellow, azure turquois, corvette bronze? You would think at sometime a customer would say i want you to build and order this color for me. It had to happen? Roger

Yep, YS-8002 which is the first one since there was no YS-8001. I think it was a non-copo one too.
