I don't think there are too many "Real" cars that don't have some reproduction parts on them. That's not a "clone only" phenomenon. I doubt that repop heater delete plates will have much of an impact on the proliferation of clones.

Only impact I see them having is the costs of the GM plates will drop and the days of the $1000 heater delete plates will stop

But do they repro the dash plastic heater delete piece? That's what runs up the price of a full set. I have a full set I bought a few years ago to put on my JL8 along with a crossram setup, Minilite wheels, Stahl headers, TI setup to replicate a TransAm car.

As far as I know no dash plates have be repod as of yet. I have a 3 complete sets 2 for 67/68 and one for a 69 Dash plates included. 67/68 go with cars and the 69's will also.

Actually they do repop the interior plate as well. Its made out of molded plastic and the only way to tell is off the car. The back side of the piece looks like s--t but the front side is perfect.

I know of somebody else who is in the middle of reproducing the '67-'68 dash plate. Looks nice and smooth on the back. It will look correct in the car but is not meant to be passed off as an original. Off the car you will be able to see the differences between it and an original. Speaking of originals, here's a photo of the interior of my '67 Z with radio and heater delete. I bought it from the original owner and have the docs to prove it came that way.

Re: Heater Delete Plate

Bud,

Yeah, the car has the shoulder belts. Also, is supposed to be a headrest car. The cowl tag and window sticker shows it but the factory screwed up. The headrests got delivered with the car but no slot in the seats to put them in. On the dealership paperwork, there is a credit for lack of headrests. All this confirmed by original owner. There are a few other goof ups such as chrome windshield pillar posts but no chrome on pedal pads. Interior chrome package was not ordered either. I attribute the goof ups to the car being only 50 some-odd cars from the end of production and just using up the last bits and pieces.
