after cleaning,painting and re installing the differential into the car I decided to up grade the rear disc brakes to aftermarket cross-drilled and slotted rotors. I ordered all the parts and started mounting . I come to find out the new brackets dont bolt up to the flange, and if they did they would hit the e-brake bracket. I researched this site and find out that the flange at the end of the tubes are heavy duty truck items. I really think that someone doing a concourse restoration on a Camaro with JL8 would be able to use this rear end . I would hate to "undo" the brackets and flange to a regular 12 bolt configuration to make my bracketry fit. Im posting more pics of the rear end and components . I'm restoring a JL8 rear end- D-11-9.I have approximately 5 yrs into this thing.I had no idea what it was when I bought it 'till I really looked at it.It's a QW rear.I've had to replace almost everything on it.The only thing I'm having trouble with are the axles.They were gone when I got the diff as were the e brake cable brackets.When they took the backing plates off they used a torch and wrecked the rear flanges-DUH!!So it has been an up hill battle thus far.I found this in a '55 Chevy Bel Air that was totalled that had the matching L78/M22 drivetrain in the car.The only thing the owner would seperate with was the rear end.Had no idea what it was.I do plan on parting with it as the car I was going to put it in-I sold.This does belong in an April/69 car.I put the identical brake set up 4 piston caliper(front and rear) in my '66 Pontiac 2 dr post and WOW,what stopping power!!!! Will post pic's soon.
