Thanks for posting the pics Sam.Pete has confirmed the Hurst Handle is for 71-74 Mopar A-Bodies like Dodge Dart, Plymouth Duster and Scamp with 318-340, Factory 4-speed, buckets or bench seat and no console. Pete is the expert on anything HURST made and has a New Book due out in 2004 that covers the complete history of HURST. The info he sent me is very informative and if anyone has any Hurst Questions, he is the guy to ask. He's also a huge Pontiac GTO guy for you PONTIAC guys. does it have a fine thread or course thread for shift ball?
GTO was course, and I think Mopar was fine thread. I don't know about Mopar but GM used the press in design to lower assembly cost. Did he say Mopar used a bolt on design in 71 to 74 or did someone drill it?

Joe...It does have 3/8 24 fine theads on the handle.It is OEM Hurst for Mopar as you see it. It has not been drilled. I believe even GM used this style (not this actual handle) on Hurst Shifter equipped 70-81 Camaros and Firebirds.......Kevin

Our '72 Lemans Sport has the rounded Hurst shift handle with the rectangular push in end. It's GM Oshawa factory original. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

From what I can remember, Chevy was tight with the Hurst shifters and only used them in 69 to 71 Camaro and COPO LT1 70 Nova. Pontiac used a lot of round handle Hursts from somthing like 64 to 81. Olds used a flat handle press in type 442 were stamped 442. I would like to see a book on the Hurst shifters. I have the original Hurst story book but it does not have complete year to year info.

I have one of those handles as well, bought it at a swap meet before I knew the Deuce #, now it just sits with all the other 'learning curve' items I have acquired [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
