Re: Drag radials for the reunion
The BF's hook good. My white car actually lifts the left front wheel with them. See if you can find a set from someone to trial fit. The 275/60 is a BIG tire. It on a corvette rally wheel just fit in my 69 and would just scrubb when you turned a corner. You might be alright in a 68 car with the rounded wheel well.
There are some cars running 11's and low 12's on Poly's though.................. Peter |
Re: Nittos vs. BFG
There's a kid in town that runs the Nittos on his '02 SS, and he likes his Nittos. 1.7 short times, launching off the rev limiter (6200)...he's ran a best of 12.49@106 in good air, with only a couple of minor mods (tires, 4.10s, lid, free mods). I know all the late model guys swear by the Nittos.

Re: Nittos vs. BFG
Joe G, I understand where your coming from. I was meaning the loss of traction vs. traction ( most street stock equipment failure occurs when guys think they are JOHN FORCE out of the bleach box and hit the dry pad) slip grab thing!!!SNAP!!! GOES AN AXLE OR STOCK WHEEL STUD!! If you have a "no slop" drivetrain in a supercar or any factory muscle car. it can take a set of slicks. H.P. is not a factor fatigue possibly!! as far as NITTOS go yes they are traction friendly for sure but do they look period correct? I have not seen any yet

Re: Nittos vs. BFG
How far is the track from the hotel? Will everyone be trailering? I am going to run the Polyglas since mine is a SMALL BLOCK. Any thoughts on tire pressure? Planning on 18lbs rear and 32lbs front. Hope to have new exhaust system in time. Tom said fuel is available at the track. Leaving 2 weeks from today, stopping in Spokane the 23rd for the Inland Empire Camaro Club show. Not TOO excited!!! Will be bringing some good NW microbrew! Re: Nittos vs. BFG
How far is the track from the hotel? As the crow flies, probably within a mile, but little further to drive...simple to get to/from both places.
Will everyone be trailering? Don't know, as I'd say it depends when most get there, and if they want their tools and such there. A lot of times, the guys will get teh cars out Thursday evening, so those cars may drive over Friday morning. I'd say the majority will drive back from the track...I know we will, unless we break something! I am going to run the Polyglas since mine is a SMALL BLOCK. Any thoughts on tire pressure? Planning on 18lbs rear and 32lbs front. Well, that pressure would make for a good show, but won't be worth a SQUAT for traction. The Polys seem to do best with 40+ in the rear and the same in the front. Our Camaro likes 46psi is at 46psi all the way around, but pump 'em up, put down some marks, and check 'em. For those wondering, we'll have our trailer on hand with a generator, compressor, welder, jacks, jack stands, and lots of tools. We'll also have a fuel jug, as they won't pump into your car. |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
MSN Messenger *might* be the way to go. I'm not sure if there is a limit to the amount of contacts that can be connected at one time, but you could essentially have a chat room with a web cam...just keep adding people to the convo until it says stop! What kind of quality can we look for, and will it pick up anything from that kind of distance?
Denis, you ever done anything like this? |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Mopart
I will be bringing my laptop to the reunion and have MSN access on it. I may even have a cellular internet connection (still working on that). I will be there for the drag racing and would be more than happy to let you use it. Steve |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Mark,
Bring Both the Poly Glasses and Drag Radials. It is my opinion that you will not be able to hook your Motion Phase III Camaro under full power, untill most of the way through second gear with stock style tires. Assuming a good state of tune your car is probably making approx. 100hp and much more torque over stock at the rear wheels. |
