No, I am fine. I am recovering from Legends Judging at Camaros at Carlisle where this topic was debated. I was on the painted side. Thanks to the survivor cars like Kennys 69 Z/28 and others I hope this topic was finally put to bed. I have seen the slim lime green sealer on Novas...BKH

Both my orange and white Camaro had gray sealer in them. I like to put a little to much and have a few gray "hangers" when the car is done.

Can we list that in the reference manual as COPO Petes Pan Boogers? Btw you could reduce wind drag and save a 1/4 oz and maybe 0.00001 et, if there was nothing hang'in from under your car.

I had to take this a little further and went today and looked at a few 1969 Camaros other than mine, one was a all original trunk pan in a 69 Z/28 waiting to be restored and this is what I found on all.The sealer on the trunk pan and the pannel seams were white to gray as some believe but all of the drain covers had a tan to brown looking sealer and this was repeated on many more than the one 1969 Z/28 Camaro that i looked at and the floor pan drain covers have the same brown to tan sealer as I had stated in my first reply.The los built 1969 Camaro I am restoring now also reflects the same findings and it was a nice rust free car that had not been restored or ever had any sheet metal or trunk pan work....so (maby) we should say that some had white to gray and some had tan to brown instead of all being the same as (some) believe.

BKH, When you previously stated "The covers are painted, but depending on the painter the overspray will be light or heavy depending on gun angle" .....Do you mean that the galvanized pieces of sheetmetal were painted with ??? before installation or that the plain galvanized covers might have been painted as a result of painting the body rocker area???? The covers are installed before paint. Pull back the rug on a genny and you will see body color on them. The underside will be tainted. Sometimes the color is easy to see and sometimes it is very light if at all. All the cars are different. The amount of sealer varies to the heavy side that hangs down, to very light. Check out your car, it should have clues to what was done...BKH

Has anyone been able to find a duplicate sealer for the red foamy looking stuff the factory used in-between panels like the quarter and the inner rear fender. It's a red color, rubbery and kind of bubbly. Chevy seemed to use it between panels that were close together and spot-welded.
