Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
I have looked for info about 10 years still havn't found any proof. NHRA lets you run them in stock class for 68-70. I asked for info from them and still waiting. I don't think they made any for any year. KIm

Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Marlin, I'm thinking like you on this. Kinda like the CTB/CTC Camaro and Nova engine codes. They are entwined by chassis combination. And, like was stated above, you WOULD think that if 311 Nova's were this way, or even half that amount, at least ONE would surface.... I'm not going to swear my kids life on it, But I would swear I've seen at least ONE that was sold new that way. Another responder has stated he saw several on a dealer lot in the Cleveland area in that timeframe. NNN says none were built, above we read that maybe a Canadian deal was done. My curiosity is at a peak, and I *think* you know why at this point. I just gotta know...

Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Jim;
You can't use the CTB/CTC engine code duplicity in an effort to correllate the 311 L89's produced to include Camaros and Novas. The CTB/CTC Camaro Z28 engine codes being used on the Novas was specifically due to the Novas being COPO's, the L89 option was an RPO, obviously not the same. Does anyone know where the 311 produced comes from? Is it engines produced, or cars produced? If it's engines produced, then Jim may have a case provided the engines produced don't have any applications stamped into them. However, if they did, then we would have the breakdown for Camaro vs. Nova vs. Chevelle applications. I think the only drivetrain code that was duplicated between the Camaro's and Novas were the rear axle codes, BT indicates 3.55 Posi for both '69 Camaros and Novas for eg. |
Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
I guess it is another one of those Mystery Cars. Some people remember seeing them and there is no reason why it could not have been built but there have been no documented cars found so it remains unverified.

Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Marlin, good point.
Pete, how do I get ahold of George S. to ascertain research on the one ? Jim |
Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
311 is the # from GM records for RPO L89 installed in 69 Camaros.

Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Thanks Kurt. What do the GM records say for RPO-L89 installed in Novas?

Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Jim, George Zappora's number is 905-644-5843. I just got off the phone with him He has never documented
a L-89 Nova for 69 or otherwise. He has done some 69 Camaro's. He does not and will not search for one. He has to keep his credibility up and can't go car shopping! But.... it's like my COPO Nova, If I had not searched that car, he would have to say he has not documented one. My best bet is now to go through Dave records and see if he has the bill of sale for one and do a search through GM of Canada on that #. Peter |
Re: '69 L89 Nova's ??
Thanx for the info. Pete. I'll be anxious to see what you dig up....if anything.
