Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
It was an over the parts counter item in the mid 60s. There were a few different versions to fit the different Models.

Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Well at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale January 2002, Mr. Reggie Jackson was Actually talking to me and Very Friendly--Oh Yea I guess it helped as I was BIDDING on his Orange COPO and he knew it. Ha-ha. We were laughing at 2 guys bidding on a '67 L-89 Corvette and when the guy was the highest bidder Reggie said "Do you know that is an L-89 Corvette NOT an L-88 Corvette?" Maybe I'll see him again this year when we go. Does anyone know the story on the automatic on the floor on his Yenko Chevelle?? Is that Correct?? Mark

Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Dave,
Reggie has been through a very large volume of cars over the years, maybe even more than both of us combined some are very nice and some were not so very nice. To make a blanket statement that all his "Reggie's" cars are nice cars would not be a very accurate satement. I'm certain that You and Gary did get one of the "nice" ones, however. |
Re: Reggie's Cars at Auction
My interest is not in a Reggie car but a Lamar car. Lamar worked on my hot-rods in the 60s and early 70s and I wouldn't mind getting Lamar's #51 in the fold. If you were a hot rodder in the 60s in this area you know Lamar Walden was and still is the man. I am not, however, interested in adding $50k to someone's fortunes for sentimental reasons.

Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Stefano, my blanket statement was referring to the cars Holub purchased from "Reggie". Certainly noone could buy and sell as many cars as Reggie and every one be a #1 car. What are you doing? Dissecting my posts?

Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Mark, on automatic floor shift. Supposedly a few Yenko Chevelles came through with console and horse shoe shifter. The Gold one has it also. I have not seen any build sheets on them but could be true. Most auto Y Chevelles came with column shifter and were converted to Hurst Duel gate and a few were left as column shift.

NWYENKO
Super Chevy magazine back in the mid '80's under Doug Marion portayed Reggie as the "Cat's Meow" of the musclecar world. Reggie even had his own musclecar column. I think it was titled something like "Ask Reggie". I just came back from an automotive museum during vacation and the owner was collecting the money to get in. Had the personality of a cinder block and a disposition of a bear. Maybe I caught him on a bad day. He was another of Marion's Super Chevy "Golden Boy's" of years past. Dave |
Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Reggie had/has a guy who took care of his cars. I have a video recorded from a TV show where this guy was showing the Yenko Chevelle and talking about it.

Re: Raggie's Cars at Auction
Dave,
Would that have been a Florida or Tennessee vacation? I had e-mailed Reggie with a very thorough explanation of my LS-6 research and told him I had located the twin El Camino to his sold at Clements Chevrolet in Rochester, MN. The cars were built within days of each other. I told him I understood if he did not want to discuss with me but to please at least acknowledge my e-mail..........Never heard a word. Re: Reggie's Cars at Auction
I visited Reggie's museum a couple of years ago, our whole car club went and it was free. We were there for hours, had a full tour and asked a lot of questions. My impression was overwhelmingly positive, everyone had a great time and learned a lot. The cars were all nice, but he did have a few too many for the space available. I wish I had that problem, but it looks like he is taking care of that now. I never did get to meet him in person, but I don't think that he is just in this for the money, he clearly loves his cars.
