Re: Yenko Stinger
JoeC> Thanks for the Great pic.!! I have never looked at that one before.
Stage I is 160 hp. Stage II is 190 hp. Stage III is 220 hp. Stage IV is 240 hp. and too big of bore for D Prod. class. That info. came from my factory Yenko Stinger Brochure. Here is some other info. which tells a little different story on stages IV & V. http://www.magi.com/~gaube/corvair/yenko11.html Happy Holidays to all here. Thanks for a Great site !! Rick |
Re: Yenko Stinger
Rick - I have an original data sheet from Yenko dated 1/16/66 that lists the stage I as 160hp, stage II as 175 hp, stage III as 210 hp, stage IV as 185 to 230 hp. and stage V as 250 hp. Did they change the Stinger specs after 1/16/66?

Re: Yenko Stinger
JoeC> My original brochure is not dated anywhere. I'd guess that it was printed after your spec sheet. Comparing my brochure to my "Yenko Stinger Tech Manual" (dated March 1967), the ratings change once again.
Stages I thru III remain as I posted earlier, in both my brochure and manual. Stage IV changes. In my brochure it lists a stage IV as 240 hp. and 176 c.i. (illegal for SCCA. 164 c.i. + .040 was legal). In my tech manual it lists a Stage IV at 230 hp. and goes on to say it's basically a ported and polished Stage III with high CFM carbs. This is the engine that won the DP Nationals in 1966. The manual lists a Stage V at 250 hp. and says illegal for SCCA because of the larger bore. Now that we are all confused, I'll quit!! LOL Rick |
