I was always under the impression that the reason the centers were satin was because Cragar did not take the time to polish them in the centers. If that is the case, just ask the rechromer to polish all but the centers.

they look fantastic. As we all know, original design Cragars in good condition are getting difficult to find. Now, the all-important question; how much did the rechroming cost and what was the turnaround time? Regards

That’s what I assumed Rick. A way to save some on the plating process.
A few older pics of the 67 with Cragars on Eddie. I never liked the tires on the front they were too small. I’ll be putting larger ones on this time around.

I had always assumed that those recesses were somehow NOT chrome plated because torquing the lug nuts down could tend to crack the chrome plating, especially after repeated removal and installation of the lug nuts.

Agree Bill, many years ago there was a topic on here about that.
That was the consensus for why the webbing was painted.

I was always told it had something to do with the chrome plating has a tough time with getting around inside corners that are to far away from the contact of the electrical current. In fact a friend just had a pair of old school ladder bars chromed and the shop told him the chrome that will be around the inside corners of each bend the chrome will be real thin or non existent!
