My bet is it was an XD suffix engine that someone added a Z to the end of and made up to be a “DZ” engine. The XD suffix is a 69 truck 350/255hp engine from a truck as shown in the attached screenshot.

I couldn’t find the XD code in any of my car books, that’s because it’s a truck motor. I had thought that’s what someone had done but couldn’t find XD info.
It’s probably a two bolt main block also.
This proves people were trying to fake the DZ engines 25 to 30 years ago at least.

probably with the explanation "the X means it was an original cross-ram DZ"

255hp, and the 4 is 4-bbl carb

Been longer than that, more like 40-45 years. Back in the Eighties for sure, just more crude examples than by todays standards.

It has an E19 casting and a 0425 assembly should be case closed.
