That’s so sweet!:Can-I-Have-It: I was just looking into this being the next project for me, Charley, after the 507 is done later this year.

I was thinking Subaru EFI on it like the Beck Speedsters. I found an original 356C coupe that I was thinking on picking up and restoring too, but the allure of the Speedster can’t be denied!

How’s the room inside?:hmmm:

Love it!!

Cheers
Dave

Those are beautiful, congrats.

If you go to the Vintage Motorcars site they have a Subaru engine option. Mark had one there as a trade in. I think he said it scared the guy as it was too fast.

Neat car with the classic look, but modern components. Really like that purple one. It's a subtle shade. Congrats on the new addition and enjoy.

Hey Charley, is the color of your speedster “Aventurine Green”? Beautiful car by the way!
Never mind, I just clicked on the link and it said “Graphite Metallic”. Those appear to be built really well.
Super Dave was the first person I thought of building one of these creations!
Congrats again. Looks like tons of fun!

Im with you Charley - I love the old cars, but it is nice to have one with the classic look, but not have to be wrenching on it. Your new car has that iconic styling. I’ll bet it gets “thumbs up” wherever it goes.

----Charley,,,I met the original owner of Vintage back around 1993. He was quite a character and a really good guy. His 1st name was Kirk and everyone called him Captain Kirk as he was also a licensed big boat captain. When I saw his operation and the method of manufacturing I ordered one (blue with saddle). They weren't as advanced as yours but were still a hoot. I no sooner got it home (when we lived in Cape Cod) and a woman walked up and said she wanted it. I had paid the princely sum of $12,000 and she bought it for $14,000. Was going to order another but other stuff crept up. I called Vintage not long ago to see if Captain Kirk was still above the dirt and I guess he is from what they said. The new owners have taken thier Speedsters to a whole new level from what I see in your pics. Sounds like you will have a lot of fun with it!!!....Bill S

Very nice. Do these reproductions have some sort of connection to Brazil, are the bodies made there?

Charley Lillard 08-07-2024 03:41 AM

The blocks are cast in Brazil but I think the bodies are done by Vintage in house.

----Way back with Captain Kirk the bodies were made in Mexico, fairly close to the border. Of course that may have changed....Bill S
