It was Ford version of COPO, Ford was call DSO for Domestic Special Order. Forgive me, but I don't think there's documentation on how many built.
Also, Mercury Hi-Pos were not K-codes. In fact, you'll find people selling a K-code Comet and they think it's a Hi-Po when it's not. Sometimes the easy tell is the automatic transmission.
Shelby Mustangs also were DSOs so I wouldn't suggest it was something not offered from the factory. It is a little confusing because DSO is also "District Sales Office" so I should ask my Ford friend to see how he can make it clearer.
