So Peyton Cramer joined Dana Chevrolet in 1966 and headed the performance program, is that accurate? And the issue here is this black Camaro has no real history to back up the claim of how it came together?

Though Dan (Palchanes?) said on another board 11 years ago: "Joe,Cool stuff you posted.Check this out,the original 1967 black Dana 427 dragcar that HawiianJeff posted a while back was pulled off the Dana lot as a non SS 67 Camaro. Was a original V8 4 speed car and original color was NOT black,it was Gold!! Got this info from someone that worked there and is a very reliable source. He was there when car was being built."

I'd be shocked if these pics don't inspire some poor decision making:hmmm:

Also a cool ad for the car from the LA TIMES newspaper in 1969...that Andy found...notice the license plate in the ad! :worship: Attachment 201589 |

This imposter black Dana Camaro was delivered new to Brown & Hoeye Chevrolet in Mesa, AZ and was a fawn beige 327 automatic with a gold standard interior per the cowl tag. The original real Dana DC1 Camaro was a black SS with black standard interior and a manual trans. Numerous other details also throw cold water on the guy's claim. |

Thanks Bruce but credit actually goes to Jon M. who noticed the Jack Head Chevy Dana Plate # matched the Bardahl Dana Test car back when I first posted it in the Old Newspaper Ads thread. Ole likely traded it in at Jack Head also interesting too is some original pics of the Bardahl car are earlier w/ Dana 1234 Dealer Tag + no Bardahl decals on doors until TSD-988 Plates appear. As to the subject car, we've looked at it here a few times before w/ same fairy tale conclusion. Vin indicates late Nov. build so 02/67 Rod & Custom article seems to fit but spread likely done months before Magazine date also same car in the original Dana/Yenko ads which especially if from Oct/Nov, would be impossible for subject build?:hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete . |

Dana did offer a 427 Super Drag Camaro and a 427 Road Camaro

Nice pics of the nose stripe on the White car. Clearly shows how the lower one terminated at an angle and started right at the body line. I've been looking for an original photo for a while now for future reference for mine.
