The build sheet in question is from Van Nuys.

Not sure if a Leeds build sheet would be the same.

The blue convertible that's the subject of this thread now has pictures posted of engine & trans numbers plus a bunch of other useless numbers. Not confidence inspiring....

Terrible restamp on the engine, not to mention Van Nuys stamps the VIN down by the oil filter. The trans is dated 1975.

Aren’t the shields on the rear near the lower control arms for an El Camino?

Yes, I noticed those too. Most likely the rear end is not original to the car either.

Wouldn't they have both started with the same pre-printed sheet?

You would think so Lynn. Im not that educated on 1970 Chevelle build sheets but this one looked wrong to me.
That engine stamping is very suspect also. Its at $75K right now.

While I hesitate to put this in print, I guess it won't hurt, as the info is readily available elsewhere. In fact, someone posted this info in the BAT site just this morning.

All the original build sheets have five lines of text under the words: STATEMENT OF ACCEPTANCE BY CARRIER.

Fake build sheets have four lines of text.

Of course, now that this has been made more public, and a FEW more folks are more educated, the fake BS makers will get a new pre-printed form with five lines of text there.
And the game continues.

I remember speaking with Roy Sinor a few years ago about the fake trim tags being made for Corvettes. They identified over 20 issues with the fake tags. Kept calling them out as fakes at judging events, and everyone with a fake tag complained that NCRS would not disclose what the issues were. After a lot of pressure, NCRS went public with just a few of the issues (IIRC... 6 issues, but don't quote me on that). Within very little time the fake tag makers fixed all of the disclosed issues.

That's why I really don't like pointing out every little detail that is wrong.

I have several fake buildsheets in my database with the 5 line version. Some have been doing this for many years already.
