Just to beat this a little further, now that I think a bit more and looking at the AIM picture a more likely reason for the two piece is the front line was probably pre-assembled on to the subframe prior to joining the rest of the car. Trying to install one long line to the car after the subframe was installed would have been a real pain.

I always lusted for that car when you had pics on Team Camaro...:drool:
