Well it doesnt look like it has any drivetrain thats original to the car.
I guess I would verify that. If thats true its not worth what hes asking, IMO.

RS Z grills are black unless it's a black paint car. Looks like ZL2 hood was added since the cowl flap isn't wired up. Fender droop and panel gaps esp on driver side are kinda rough, but all in all looks like a nice driver. I don't know enough to weigh in on the trim tag. Looks like a repaint based on how far down the stripes go on the cowl.

I think the trim tag is good, just a bit beat up. Better pic would make it easier to confirm.

Car has a lot going for it, but as stated, not likely an RS to start with, and definitely not the original trans or rear. Some guys don't care about all that. Most do.

At least they are up front about the block being decked. It is STILL POSSIBLE to verify it as being the original block, but ONLY IF the partial vin down by the oil filter is readable. Big if.

Wrong exhaust manifolds. Given the rest of the history, I would be shocked if it had the original distributor, starter and alt.

Hmm. Not so fast. Maybe you’re referring to some of the other ad links posted by Dan later in this thread, but in the current eBay listing (the posted link that began this thread) the seller’s description states:
Quote:

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 X33D80
Very nice high quality -Accurate Vehicle
* 302 Matching #s
* 410 Posi Matching #s
* Muncie M21 Close ration transmission - non matching
Says nothing about being decked, and implies only the trans is non-OE to the car.

ZLP955 10-30-2020 11:02 PM

Also, 2 of those ads that do mention the block being decked list the car’s location as Fresno CA, but per eBay, it is currently offered for sale in Wisconsin.
So if it was bought in Fresno and now being flipped in Wisconsin, the seller is presumably aware of the decked block, yet lists it as ‘matching numbers’. Tread carefully and ask questions if serious about the car.

Lynn 10-31-2020 02:17 AM

You are correct Tim. What I SHOULD have said was: "at least a previous seller was up front about the block being decked."

If the current seller restamped it, ... well, that's a serious problem.

At least we have enough to go on to know the trans and rear are not original. Are they NOW claiming the 4.10 rear is matching? 12 27 rear doesn't work in a late 69 built car.
