Id hang one up till you decide, I just found some rim hangers on amazon, I’m going to hang a few rims up in the garage for display. You don’t see may GTO’s with those. I’d bet at Norwalk they wouldn’t last long at the swap.

Awesome find

Thanks for the positive comments guys! I put them on eBay but if they don’t sell I honestly don’t care. They are cool and I’ll probably never be able to get a set again.

HURST Aluminum Wheels

7 Attachment(s)
hvychev,
Great looking wheels and tires!
Cool find. Mount them on the wall ..... art.

George Hurst unveiled his superior strength aluminum wheels in January 1965.

They were a 14x6 wheel that were made in several variations.

The lug hole area between the spokes could have a “webbed design” like hvychev wheels, or a non web design like my set.
Also that same area could be a thick shank, or thin shank design.
My set is the thin shank which requires a shallow depth Hurst wheel lug.

The spokes were finished in full polish, or semi polished.

I acquired this Unrestored set in 2012. They are a matched GM 4.75 set with consecutive serial numbers stamped under the caps.

Purchased in 1966 by the Original owner for his GTO.
After 4 years on the car he removed them, applied heavy wax and stored in burlap sacks for over 40 years.

BTW, hot wheels by Mattel started in 1968.

Chris.

A couple more HURST goodies.

The HURST wheels were packaged differently also.

You could get 2 wheels in a steel drum as shown below.
I have the drum and lid, but I’m missing the heavy steel ring and bolt that secures the lid to the drum.

There were 3 different style caps offered.
1) The common flat cap with HURST sticker.
2) The three prong spinner cap.
3) The bullet cap with three small stickers.

The bullet box. This one is empty.

Chris.
