The GT500 for 67 had the 428 PI with dual quads while the 68 had a single quad. The biggest different in engines was for the GT350. For 67 it still had the 306 HP 289. For 68 it was a 250 HP big car 302 (with an aluminum intake.)

Shelby proved to Ford he was OK making limited production cars but he sucked at making high production cars. All kinds of issues with the 1967 so Ford bought him out and only kept his name.

Midway in 1968 Ford launched the Cobra Jet 428 in 1968 Shelbys and changed the side stripe from GT500 to KR500 which stood for King of the Road.
