Just LA. It was I've read a GMAD vs. Fisher Body thing. When Norwood went GMAD in 72, they moved to the pad like LA.

Doesn't resemble original stamps in my database

I had an original 70z engine and the VIN stamping was down by the filter. NOR car stamped V0518CTB. This stamping above has some issues. Isnt D for Doraville?? Plant that made the big cars. Definately is not a Camaro VIN. Whats the casting number on the back of the engine? |
D was indeed used for Doraville, but that CTB code was used for a 1972 Impala series with a 240HP/402cid.

But in 1970 it was a 350 LT1 4-spd |
OK I will clarify the stamping. It is completely incorrect from fonts, codes & broach marks.

Another heavily belt sanded deck. Not even close to original, like noted.

ok thanks guys - appreciate the info and insight

Doesn't this area appear to show a lack of machining as though it were not level with the rest of the block?
Also agree the broach marks nor the assembly stamp are not at all typical. |
