Def give it 2 thumbs up!! I saw it yesterday with my younger son Danny (age 12), he was visibly upset about the Ken Miles crash scene at the end - he said that its 'ok' that I'm not a race car driver. Funny how kids can relate themselves to situations in real time.....

It should go down as one of the great, great racing movies of all time. They fudge many "timeline" details for dramatic effect (seeming to forget that Lee Iaccoca gave Carroll Shelby money and engines for the Cobra in 1962 and putting their "first meeting" in the movie to well AFTER Shelby American's Cobra was a success already in '63-64). And there's the niggling on-screen attention to detail things (Cooper Cobra GTS radial tires being rolled around in the Ford pits at LeMans in '66 on the Halibrand knock-offs is a hilarious gaffe, as well as Corvettes wearing 1965-67 factory style side-pipes and big-block Stinger hoods at what is supposed to be Willow Springs in '63 or '64.)

Those are tiny things in the grand scheme of a movie that was obviously made with respect for its story and historical characters, has real heart and little visible CGI. And the sound in IMAX is just glorious, I'm definitely gonna go again...and again...Ken Miles FOREVER!

I thought it was a great movie too and was shocked that my girlfriend picked it to watch Saturday night since my car obsession usually wears her out. I noticed several small details that weren't correct but the biggest question I came away with was if Shelby really said he'd give up Shelby American if Miles didn't win the 24 Hours of Daytona? I figured that was BS for added drama, anyone know for sure?

I saw it tonight with a bunch of car guys. Fantastic movie! That will be a legendary flick to have in the library. Oh to have a Cobra as a daily driver like Carroll Shelby.

I read a couple of days ago that it never happened.

Agree, I've read tons on Shelby and that's never come up.

I wondered about the end as well and just did a little digging. I found this:

I know, I know, you can't believe everything on the internet, but this seems to support what happened in the movie somewhat. I would think that if it was true Shelby would've made a lot of noise, but maybe with the relationship with Ford he didn't. I don't know, just speculating. Maybe now with the movie out a lot of people will dig and we might find out the details.

Great movie. My wife and I saw it yesterday on the big screen and loved it.

Now all I have to do is get Shelby's driver Cobra out of my head. I came home and started looking at kit cars. Ugh!

Go see the movie if you haven't already.

Oh.... you know you want to!:eek2:

Cheers:beers:
