I don’t think $200 for four pistons is expensive, but I’m used to Oldsmobile stuff and race-bred 427 Chevy, too. Buy new ones, ask the grandson his thoughts while staring at him straight in the eyes. If he apologizes, you know where you stand......if he balks, you know where you stand. I’d explain your long-term relationship and your possible loss in currently trusting the shop. I’d start asking around and have a back-up plan in place should you need it.
They are cool cars and glad to hear it will once again see some duty!

Opel GT's are cool! Have fun with it, Lynn!

Sent the owner an email with pics.
Received this message this morning.

Lynn I am very sorry for your trouble! The piston must have cracked when I pressed it off and simply did not realize it.
I would be more than glad to come get those pistons from you. I will actually be in Guthrie tomorrow (Sunday) and be happy to pay you for the pistons you had to buy.
I’m very sorry again for your troubles. If you would like to discuss the matter further please give me a call on my cell.

Stay with that guy!

That is a warm and fuzzy response!

Doesn’t get any better than that! Sounds like he’s your man.

Lynn 02-11-2018 01:32 AM

Won't play out the whole drama here, but sent him a very diplomatic email. Was very pleased with the response.

Good for you, Lynn! BTW, thanks for the other day...and the PM's. All worked out there, too :)

This is exactly why I believe that you always give someone at least one chance to make things right.

EVERYONE makes mistakes now & then, that's inevitable. It's how you deal with & resolve them that matters.
