Crash - Thanks for looking, but I think there may be some confusion....and possibly on my part. I am looking for the early 70 M21 tag, which if I understand correct should be 3968012 without any alpha character suffix. According to the reference, the 3968012WM is for the 70 M22 - Camaro only.
Gotta share this story though. I bought a 70Z from the original owner a few years ago...tons of documentation including the original order sheet. The order sheet specifies "HD Close Ratio" and the OO was charged the $235, which happened to be the M22 option cost. The original trans is still with the car and it's an M21. |
If you have an 012 non suffix tag on your m22 and the application says its m21, why not sell it??

The NCRS shows the 3968012 as an M-22 for the 1970 model year W/O the alpha suffix...
The WM could have been added later in the model year, who knows... The trans I have has never been apart, the car it came from was completely original except, it rusted away and was parted out when the leaf spring came thru the trunk and back seat... There seems to be a lot of errors and typos from what the AIM's manuals and others say was done on the assembly line, and what actually happened... Hope this helps... Crash |
Thanks for everyone's input. I need to find an early 70Z survivor with the M21 to verify the tag number.

All the info I have say the tag# is 3968011WL or 1234762KA...
I have several of each in my data base for 1970 model year... Hope this helps... Crash |
Crash...many thanks again and yes, very helpful. Like I said earlier, I do not recall where I got the list I posted and cannot verify its' accuracy. I'll keep searching for some survivor reference. By the way, my 05C 70Z with the M21 does have the original tag #3968011WL
