Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question
If they send you a paper check or money order from Canada, make sure it's in US FUNDS.
If not, your bank may charge you a $10-$40 fee to retrieve those foreign funds. |
Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question
I sold some parts the other day, the buyer contacted my local UPS store and arranged to send them a money order made out to me for the price of the parts. When I took the parts to UPS they gave me the money order. Buyer paid for UPS to package and ship. I had never seen this done before. It seemed simple. Money order was deposited and appears to be good. This was inside the USA if that would make any difference.

Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question
You got balls.
Money orders can be easily made and are not instant. It takes time for them to clear or to be found fake. I wouldn't have handed over the parts to UPS until I deposited the money order in my account and waited for it to clear. If it's found to be bogus, you pay a bank fee too. |

Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question
USPS postal money orders can be cashed on the spot at the post office. They check them while you are there.

Re: PayPal Foreign Funds Transfer Question
PayPal charged the sender a bit over $2 to send the money to me, and allegedly will cost me nothing.....we shall see. Thanks to everyone for their input.
I learned the necessity of specifying "US FUNDS" on a check from a Canadian bank many years ago when we had a rental property here in AZ that we rented to a Canadian tenant Another 'live and learn' lesson. |
