Re: Oil @ a 7 yr low per barrel

I have been running 100LL for a couple of years now in my "Lawn Mower". I do transport it from the airport back home in the gas tank of my Z/28. I did try a full load in my Turbo Buick at the "Race Track", it ran good but took out the O2 sensor. I since have been cutting it with 93 and have had no further problems at the "Race Track". $4 a gallon this year, was $6 last year.

We have been using the 100LL av gas for a number of years...it has worked great for the small engines [sleds, atv, chainsaws, etc]. I have also used it in the L78 cars...works fine. Some of the stations near us now sell 91 ethanol free...it is a low cost option for the small engines...still need the octane for the cars.

I have a local oil and fuel distributor but I'd imagine he maybe too local to support the wide spread domestic reach of the community here. Would you guys be interested in a group purchase if I can get this to work?

Let me know,

I'd be interested in a couple of barrels! ( 55gal )

A gent I worked with some years back, who also had a large car collection, told me that his research on 100LL (Low Lead) Aviation Gasoline revealed that it contained 12 times more lead than our old leaded fuel from the 1970s. I put at least two gallons in my cars when I can to at least keep some lead in the fuel.
The other benefit with aviation gas is a very long shelf life. There is a definite increase in performance with the avgas, even in my 307 Camaro.

That lousy ethanol is a real problem also in these old cars... If you can find higher octane gas ethanol free that will really help..

That is why we chose to 9.3:1 compression on that 302 for my Dad's Nova. We might see 15% ethanol in a few years.

Pump gas motors are nice!

Mixing aviation gas with pump gas will work well. We have no ethanol free pump gas where I live, though.

Tim, is it a problem to mix 100LL with ethanol pump gas?

You can mix it no problem.
