Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
Don't go for certain by the buildsheet notating NA-9 charcoal cannister there...That's no indication it actually recieved it,but rather just that it was assumed to be maybe sold brand new in,or near California.
It's obviously not an E.E.C. tank anyway. |
Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
So a VN built '70 Camaro tank. With the codes, 'Bird would not be the original application. Would it be the same tank or would Pontiac have a different configuration ?
What is an assembly line tank in this condition worth ? Any opinions ? My thanks to everyone. |
Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
The buildsheet showing that specific engine/horsepower shows it didn't come in a 2nd gen Firebird orginally, but that aside, yes,a 2nd gen Firebird would use that same tank I believe. Both it,or 2nd gen Camaro without the E.E.C. NA-9 charcoal canister of course.(No 3 end nipples or bypass hose on the filler neck)
I don't know what someone is or isn't willing to pay for it today. |
Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
Pricing is always a crap shoot. I'm not interested in squeezing out the top dollar, but I don't want to sell everything for 1/2 of what it is worth either. It's tough to keep going if you do.
My thanks to everyone who helped out ! Dave |

Here is a 70 Camaro tank but with NA9 option.

Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
Hose on the neck and 3 nipples on the rear ? Wow.

Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
Strictly going by the build sheet and comparing to all other models 1969-1970, my best guess would be a 1970 Camaro. Options all line up and they don't for any other 1969 or 1970 model. Boxes follow the same format and numbering also.

ditto, Van Nuys built 70 Camaro SS350 4 speed, possibly RS with that tape (door handle) |
Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
Agreed, quote from another site: All below from this thread if anyone wants to read it all:
http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/archiv...p/t-77414.html "The RPO D92 Decor Tape was the code used for the Door Handle Decor Tape on 1970 thru 1981 Camaro's and was used to add a body colored tape to the door handle The RPO D92 Decor Tape was an Option that was used with RPO Z21 Style Trim Group or with RPO Z22 Rally Sport Package Although listed as part of the RPO Z21 Style Trim Group on 1970-81 Camaro’s and part of the RPO Z22 Rally Sport Package on 1970-73 Camaro's the RPO D92 Decor Tape is also listed on Van Nuys Build Sheets as RPO D92 Decor Tape and looks like an Option by its self but was a part of the RPO Z21 and RPO Z22 Options The RPO D92 Decor Tape Option will be listed on the Van Nuys build sheet along with the RPO Z21 Style Trim Group which includes the body colored door tape, bright accent moldings and bright accent taillights The RPO Z21 Style Trim Group Option is replaced by the RPO Z22 Rally Sport Option which includes all of the RPO Z21 Style Trim Group Options The RPO D92 Decor Tape Option will also be listed on the Van Nuys build sheet with RPO Z22 Rally Sport Option that also includes the body colored door tape, bright accent moldings and bright accent taillights like RPO Z21 Style Trim Group Option." |
Re: What does this gas tank fit ?
That fuel tank sender does not look like my 70 VN Z28. Mine looks like a 69 sender. I am away from my tank, but will look at it when I get home.
