i had a 65 L79 chevelle with a grump lump....thought it was the coolest thing on the planet...that scoop made me the coolest kid in my group of flunkeys..it had a scoop..it had to be fast...
i was 14 and had to make payments on a $50 dollar car..lol...12 bolt..high redline tach...4 speed...burgandy with black interior..wrong motor..but heads, intake and carb where with the car...and i sold that stuff for $75 when i got it home....it was the first car i bought on my own...and $50 was a lot of money..youd shovel a driveway for 1 or 2 bux....mow grass for $2-5 and had to supply gas etc..i collected soda bottles at 2 cents deposit etc....took a month to get it together..but that scoop kept me motivated..oh,,,cost $15 to get it towed..and i made sure he was at work when it showed up...my dad lost his freakin' mind when he realized it was in the back yard..it took him 2 days to "find" it..lol...good times..man....good times |
Re: Old School hood scoops WIW
John,
That's a nice scoop. The scoops shown, appear to be two different manufacturers. The first having a chopped matting and the yours with marine grade(?). Is the A&A glassed in or a sticker? |

I agree that there from different manufacturer's as well. Just showing what an A A Grump Lump scoop looks like |
Re: Old School hood scoops WIW
Picked up a new or like new fiberglass bolt on hood that I found on Indy CL. Drove home to Ohio from U.S. Nats. in Indy with the hood tied down to the roof of our Avalon. Laid my scoop on top to see how it will look. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_3947.jpg

Re: Old School hood scoops WIW
Does anyone make the grump lump molded into a first gen Camaro hood / full fiberglass one any more?

Re: Old School hood scoops WIW
I think I recall a guy in Ohio doing them.
Honestly though, there are good fiberglass hoods out there and a few of the fiberglass Grump lumps, you could just glass them together. Glassing to steel can get sketchy, but glass to glass would be great. |
