You don't see a lot of small block automatic Super Sport Novas...this one looks like a decent cruiser...certainly not a high end resto. It will be interesting to see how much it brings.

Agreed looks like a nice cruiser. It looks like most of the rubber bushings are original I see lots of cracking. Someone has done some work around trunk drop offs. But over all a nice car if you want an automatic.

WHAT would some say is the "going rate" for a car such as the SS350 auto in that condition??? 20, 25, 30?????

Re: 1970 nova ss

Low to mid 20's would be about right...a nicely sorted out car with the right parts might be in the high 20's to $30k. Beyond that there isn't much demand for a high end restored model like this. The cost to do it right is the same as a big block car, less the driveline components..so it would be hard to justify the expense unless you owned it for very little or it was a family car with sentimental value.

This car has a lot of little stuff that needs work...under carriage seems like it was rattled can painted...but, the black paint is a plus...there aren't a lot of black 70's around. [unless you are at my house ]

Re: 1970 nova ss

I appreciate the somewhat candid description, but some folks may not really understand this statement:

"#3 cylinder had to be sleeved to reuse original block. Numbers on block recorded by machine shop before doing work...."

Which is "Numbers on block recorded by machine shop, then wiped clean during the decking process because they couldn't be bothered to find a machine to avoid them, then carefully restamped on what is (probably/possibly/maybe) that same original block"

I really like those little consoles in bucket seat Novas:) I had a '71 307/TH350 car with that setup.

Re: 1970 nova ss

I saw that part of the description as well...no doubt, the numbers were "decked"...not necessary if they know what their doing.

It might also be helpful to know why the engine needed a sleeve...rust? damage?...most guys didn't blow up the L48 motors, especially with an auto trans.

as for Nova consoles...they are cool, but hard to read when you're driving and the tach is also difficult to see.

I'm surprised this a no-reserve auction...that seems strange to me.

That was my thoughts too, around the mid 20's. With l78 cars fetching 60-70 grand, I think that's about right. THANKS

You think there more value in a 69 ss 350 Nova vs a 70 ss 350 car

Re: 1970 nova ss

About the same. A lot of folks like the larger, white lenses on the '70 bumpers and the '70 tail lights. A lot of folks like the integrated engine call out / side marker lights of the '69's. Performance wise, the SB's are the same. I think there is more disparity between the '69 vs '70 BB Novas, with more favorability / value on the '69's.

Re: 1970 nova ss

I agree with Marlin, not just because I have a BB SS '69, but I think "most" of the performance car world sees '69 as a pinnacle year!

1969 had:

ZL-1'S, A-12 Mopars (alum intakes), Sc Ranblers, BOSS Fords, Dodge Daytona's, SS AMX, 427 COPO cars and the list can go on.

Yes, 1970 had some high points as well, like LS-6's, but there just seemed to be the ora that '69 WAS the year for Muscle cars. I don't know, maybe the companies "heard" rumblings that was clamping down and just lost the drive???? I don't know, I was on 4 in 1970 LOL
