You could get a big block in a base Challenger ragtop (the 383/300 horsepower engine) but you could not get an R/T ragtop, therefore no 426 Hemi in a 1971 ragtop Challenger. So, the 9 number was the total 1970 models for US production and 3 more for export.

So your buddy's car must be a 1970 if it is a real car. Got any photos? </div></div>

Thanks for the info! I haven't seen the car in a few years, I didn't remember if it was a 1970 or 71, so I guess you answered that for me

I took a bunch of pictures at the time, I'll see if I can find them and upload them in the next few days! He actually had a pair, a hardtop and vert, both real '70 Hemi Challengers. I don't know him well but we talked at the show for awhile as it was a very small, local show and my dad and I had never seen the cars before. He was extremely nice and said he doesn't take the cars out much. The convertible was originally sublime but he repainted it long ago in plum crazy to match his hardtop.

So do we know how many of the 1970 Hemi Challenger convertibles are accounted for?

I believe there was one that was a sublime green ragtop. Are you sure he didn't sell it a few years ago? I recall someone telling me about a (then) recent acquisition of a sublime hemi ragtop a while back.

He could have, I have not seen the car or talked with him in a few years. I only saw the car a couple times and he was very sentimental to it, but he was getting up there in age. Do you have any more info about that car you heard about? The car was in the Kansas City area if that rings any bells.

There were two sublime challengers built.

and 69hurst you are right, there was only 1 '71 cuda built with billboards, I was incorrect in saying the export French cars had billboards.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...imelight70.jpg

THIS CAR'S SHAKER HOOD WAS ADDED, NOT ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED...

Well, unfortunately I cannot find the pictures I took at the show a few years back. I had a hard-drive failure a couple years ago and I'm afraid the pictures might have gone with it. However, I did find one picture of the car online. I immediately knew it was his car because of the display board you can see in the background.

Yes, that's what was told to me. It had a good quality respray from the 1980's but you could still see the Limelight color in the trunk and door gaps. He had a hardtop '70 Challenger in Plum Crazy and painted this to match.

&quot;Documented by Chrysler&quot;...yeah, but documented as what?

It's about as documented as a 1970 L89 Nova convertible.
