The office for my shop was originally built as a gas station back in the 40s. Next to our sigh, you will see the old island light. You can still see the footprint of the island in the parking lot. Next to the office you is the footprint of the old drive over grease pit. On the side of the office in the bricks you can see where the restroom doors were on the outside.

Not a gas station, but an old Dodge dealership. This used to be Smith Motor Company in White Marsh, MD. It is the original building. The service bays are located behind that bucket truck. Years later, they built the service department and another showroom across the street which now sits empty.

At one time, it seemed Smith Motor Co sold every Dodge in Baltimore County.

I love my local "OLD" station, no clue what branding was but a local wrench uses it to repair Volvo's

Oh man, you opened up another can of worms here.
Most of these are Route 66 stations I found on a couple of different vacations.
Others are around Texas. There are 2 or 3 other little known old highways like 66.
One is called the Bankhead Highway and runs across Texas, parallel but South of 66,
and another is of course the Lincoln Highway. And yes, I took ALL of the following pics. Enjoy.

Doesn't look that old, but Stuckeys went away in the 80's I believe.
They were a ritual sight as childhood vacation stops.

As you may notice with this one, many of the true 40's-50's era places were a combined
gas station and hotel/car park set up. These are hard to find any more.

Many of these are the center piece surrounded by car park rooms or RV parking spots.

Then, some are just out there all by their lonesome-

Some have some real memorabilia left behind for many years-

Some simply a sign and an empty lot-

Sorry, I guess those were more of "How those cool old stations look now"
instead of "how they used to look".

Here, how about this-

That's right kids. Every gas station looked like this back in the day.
