The TIG welding is on the aluminum lip which is then machined down to the original profile in order to re-seal as original.
It is only the process to repair the original crimped down lip which is either broken or fractured when disassembling the units.

After Kirk is done, can you tell that this area has been re-welded or is the repair totally un-detectable?

Mine was $270.00 because he performed a 'shaftectomy' on it. He installed the short shaft.

The parts that comprise the fan clutch assembly are: (clockwise starting at the right hand)
Studs, Shaft, Cover plate assembly, pump plate, clutch plate, gasket, body, bearing,
external bi-metal arm, and shaft assembly.

Mike, basically is. Mark - correct me if I miss speak for your application, but at least on the units he's done for me, I've sent small block original clutches and he rebuilds them as original appearing big block units. Passes judging 10 of 10 times!
