What ever you do -- DO NOT run ATF in a Boggie Woggie or a Munchie ... some ( I think MoPar) used to recommend ATF.

Thank you, Samuel, for taking the time to post your thoughts. Would that be distilled or regular tap water? ...... ...........

Some of the Tremecs use ATF

Regular tap water. has a few more minerals in it for lubrication. Alot of trans guys do not like synthetic gear lube in the old cars. Atleast that is what they tell me.

The GL4 is for the Muncies and Borg Warners etc. It has to do with the "yellow metals" in the transmission. The newer transmissions like the Tremec call for the ATF which is a GL5 oil.

I sell a lot of this GL4 AMSOIL to hotrodders locally as well as the Cummins truck guys using the NV4500 transmission. I swapped it into my stuff a few years ago and noticed a big difference. I am a dealer and will be happy to help if anyone needs some shipped or you can just use my referral # 2011844 to knock a few bucks off the price.

I'm running CRC Sta-Lube Hypoid-SAE 85W90 Gear Lube API/GL-4....... which is what my trans guy TOLD me to use. I believe CRASH recommends it also. You can get it a NAPA.

Looks like a lot of us are running the sta-lube/CRC 85W-90 juice. I think it's what Autogear recommends as well. My car is far from a lawn ornament, and it seems to work fine for.. ahem.. "spirited" driving.

I built my own trans and have been running this stuff since it was put together. Cheap, and available at NAPA and Amazon.
