I'm starting already. The plan I have for now is to do some testing with the current combination just to see how weight transfers and how rediculous the traction can be. Also, I want to get some baselines on 60ft times and MPH.

After that, the injection is going to go on to check it's driveability and get some basic air / fuel ratios.

The actual engine build should occur next year. I want to spend some time researching exactly what I want to do. My intial thought is a 12:1 with a 4.56 gear. Have to wait and see besides save some $$$$$$!!

great pictures! If you want, you can run 7.10 tires on it to maybe make better times, because if you are going for the wide wheel look, the 5.5" wheels were designed to allow a bigger tire than the 6.70. I would think the tread is just a wee bit wider which should help on traction.

Fact is, the reproduction Polyglas and Wide Oval bias ply tires are worlds better than anything that was available back when they were original equipment. They almost border on the same quality as having slicks did back in the day. Call Rusty Small if you want to talk tires. Cell phone is 816-654-3400. He is your best bet when it comes to reproduction Goodyears, and he even delivers to the Pure Stock Drags.

on my '57 i picked up a set of 15x6 impala/caprice wheels from '78 vintage. ran the '57 dog dish caps.
i used F70-15 redlines with the black side out.
you'll never get it hooked with the skinny tires. we tried it.

That 57 is pretty tough looking! I have a set of 15x7's that was on the car when my Dad had it. It's pretty good idea given the fact the rules allow it. IMO, the bias ply's look the best on these cars.

yep, 270 hp. 4 spd. 4.10 axle.
i sold it 3 years ago. (owned it for 38 years)
running a '68 L78/L89 camaro now.
