Sam...that document shown is not an "order form"...it is a "car invoice". The car invoice was the dealers actual sales/accounting document for the transaction...it is not uncommon to have some options or details left off of these. The billing or title clerk would normally prepare this form along with DMV docs, finance contracts, warranties, etc. I would imagine one of the Camaro gurus could look it over and determine if the power steering is origianl to the car. Cool ride...there weren't a lot of L34 cars made. wilma |

Hmmm... Kurt, for my own edification, why couldn't you order the car without stripes? You could order a 70 Chevelle without stripes? IIRC, the 1968 Camaro on the cover of Alan Colvin's book, Chevrolet by the numbers was ordered without stripes as well. Just wondering the basis for concluding that the 68 on e-bay is not all original paint because of the lack of stripes?? Thanks Orlando |
Re: 1968 SS WOW
All Camaro SS and Z28's had stripes. They were not optional but part of the package.
I don't know of any SS's that were special ordered without stripes. |
Re: 1968 SS WOW
----Kurt,,,I know of more than one Z28 that was ordered without the stripes. I dont know what a dealer had to do, but I saw a new 69 Z in dusk blue without stripes being prepped for delivery at Porter Chevrolet in Newton Lower Falls, Mass. Fuzzy on the exact date (other than the 68/69 part), but the car has stuck with me all these years. It was memorable because it had endura bumper, black/white houndstooth, power windows, tilt. You get the picture. It was a very specificly ordered Z.....Bill S

Re: 1968 SS WOW
to add to the lack of stripes, I remember my old boss orded new, 67-68 camaro RS/SS L78 4 spd convert with no stripes. Teal-blue color. This is when he was also a big shot at a GM division, so maybe he had some way to force the stripe delete (or make sure he could call someone at chevy to be sure). His wife did not want the stipes (it was her car). Camaro was eventually was stolen. I am sure he would have pictures of it still, if you wanted me to get copies.

Re: 1968 SS WOW
The black '68 L89 Camaro SS that was an original owner car with paperwork in Calif. a few years ago was a stripe delete car.

This stripe delete 68 was at MCACN two years ago. Not sure about the trim tag, but Shauger may be able to shed some light on it. It was in the survivor program..BKH |
