Re: 30 30 Cam in a 400 sbc
Wow!!! That was thorough. I wish I would've had that article 2 years ago when I built by 327 for my Chevelle.
Great Information!!! Blair |

I am with Eric. An aftermarket crane for your application is good. I use a Crane cam in my Z/28. Why spend the money for any NOS cam? They go to zero worth IMO after they are pulled from the tube an installed.

Re: 30 30 Cam in a 400 sbc
i always wondered how this cam would run and sound. i had the same thoughts years ago. i had that cam in a lt-1 350 with 10.5 compression and 4.10's and a m22 banged off shifts at 7k plus. was a dog under 3k though. always wondered how well it would run in a 10-1 406 with a 4 speed and good iron heads. 6500k redline. wondered about the idle with headers and a chambered exhaust.

Re: 30 30 Cam in a 400 sbc
I had a 327 with a 30/30 cam in a Nova years ago. The car ran great and would twist some serious RPM's. People would tell me all the time that I had a lifter problem...at that point I would ask them if they wanted to race.

that cam was used in a few applications Kurt before the Z/28 came out.
