Unfortunatly, that particular motor (if your guy knows values) probably more than doubles the value of the car. Its my guess he doesnt think the car will bring the $ all together. A mistake IMHO!!!

I agree on the engine he says its not the original engine but date and casting numbers are good, the block has been surfaced so no numbers, he says the air cleaner and all the acc are original to the car though. I would have alot more interest if the engine went with the car.

Re: 67 SS 427 Impala?

I originally thought all 67 427 cars had the bulge hood and other emblems, but I guess not I also read this on another site,

When first introduced, SS 427 features were optional for two body styles in the separate 1967 Impala SS series. Regular Super Sport equipment included vinyl-clad Strato bucket seats, black grille finish, wheelhouse moldings, black lower body and deck lid accents, badges and specific wheel covers. A second option, coded RPO L36, turned the SS into an SS 427. This $316 package included the SS 427 trim and a 385-hp 427 Turbo-Jet V-8.

Re: 67 SS 427 Impala?

Yep, this looks to be a real 427 car. It was a Super Sport ordered with the 427 engine. It did NOT have the rpo Z24 SS427 package that gave you the special hood and trunklid molding.

I run the 67-69 Impala SS427 registry and would love to get this car added. I keep track of cars like this too. Could you send me or post pictures of the vin tag and trim tag on the firewall? Transmission tag should have a CB code on it. Where was the car built? I can give you good locations to look depending on the plant it's from. I have seen similar writing on the inside fender before.

Re: 67 SS 427 Impala?

Hmmm I did have that car in my list. It was on ebay in January. Seller is starting to sell stuff of the engine.

tag shows Marina Blue paint, bright blue bucket seat interior. Body was built 2nd week of November and options on tag are tinted windshield, TH400, rear seat speaker and deluxe belts.

If the original trans and engine are in it, that may not be a bad deal. The trim tag shows the car did not have a vinyl top when new.

Warren I spent some time going over the car tonight and with some bad news engine is gone now.... I guess I slept too long on this but the manifolds are hanging on the exhaust still in the car date of I 12 6 so im going to say they are OE, trans and PS pump are still in car but way worse shape than pics make it to be. I might have to pass this one sad im sure its real but needs everything... Im going to need to think on it the next couple days before I make a offer.

Re: 67 SS 427 Impala?

Yeah. Since the block was decked, who knows. Did you have a chance to buy the car with the engine. It appears that everything else was original to the engine. The air cleaner, which is specific to those engines was correct.

How is the body? Quarters, floors and frame as well?

Re: 67 SS 427 Impala?

Warren,
I,talked to a fellow who looked at this car in Jan. when it was on e-bay, he said it was a 396 car that had no engine when this current owner aquired the car. He then put a 351 bolck in it and listed it on e-bay as a original???, and added the 427 emblems.
Now it seems he has removed the engine and sold it?
I'd be careful about adding this as a L36.
