Re: M20 wide box

Hmmmm.... I thought the M20 box had a 2.52 (sometimes a 2.54) first while the M21 had a 2.20 first?

They did

Year 1963-1965 Type: M20 Rings: None Ratio: 2.56 / 1.91 / 1.48 / 1.00 / 3.16
Year 1966-1974 Type: M20 Rings: Two Ratio: 2.52 / 1.88 / 1.46 / 1.00 / 3.11
Year 1963-1974 Type: M21 Rings: One Ratio: 2.20 / 1.64 / 1.28 / 1.00 / 2.27
Year 1967-1974 Type: M22 Rings: None Ratio: 2.20 / 1.64 / 1.28 / 1.00 / 2.27

Hay Birthday boy,I pulled my M22 B4 going to SCR XIII and put in a M20, and with my 4:10's I was able to eek out a 13.50 @ 103. It's still in there, allot more fun driving around town too, I just miss the noise my M22 made...

Re: M20 wide box

I have a M22W (wide ratio) in my car. This way I get the best of both worlds.....easy taking off and the noise of a M22. The only thing I don't like is the RPM drop from 3rd to 4th at the strip.

THAT is WHY you GO to A 4.56 ratio KURT! Trans End from Jersey made gears for a Muncie about 40 years ago giving you the low first gear and the M21 high grear ratios. Don't even know if they are in business anymore. Put .88's in it Kurt with a taller tire than you have a choice. I hear ya Novadude!!

Sammy,
4.56 and 4.88's are perfect gears for those little 302's.I still have the original 3.73's in mine and can say they suck.I don't even think that 4.10's would be any better.Nothing like a good set of low gears to wake up the 302,have some fun this summer.Just fired mine up yesterday for the first time this year, come on spring.

I got 4:88's in my car and love them.[put 4:88 in 1971]

Re: M20 wide box

4.10's are not really enough with a M21 Mark. I like a little more snot if you know what I mean. An M20 helps the .10's out BUT the .56's are better yet. Not quite ready for the .88's Paul but if we do a cam change............
