Re: Just a flurry....

I was working a flight originating out of Bradley Field, Hartford, CT. Got to the airport just after the snow started. Left 4 hours late after two De-icings. There were numerous flights diverted there from JFK, EWR and LGA. Not sure why other airlines diverted planes to an airport that was in the direct path of the storm. Could be fuel considerations.

This is the airport where JetBlue had folks stranded on the tarmac for 7 hours. The snow was very heavy and very wet.

Took this picture just after arriving for my flight. It only got worse.

Sure we do. That is one of them glass ball scenes that when you shake it, these little white specks float around and make everything look purdy. Right?

I remember the white stuff from my time in Canada and 10 years working in the Arctic. But after 18 years in Singapore, 1 in Dubai and 5 in Houston I sure don't miss it. It fact it's just getting cool enough here in Texas to really enjoy cruising. I'm not as lucky as the guy I parked my 69 Z28 next to Sat night at a car show. It was a 69 Z with AC and an automatic transmission. He actually had searched and found the original Holley Quadrajet for it as well.

Re: Just a flurry....

We got lucky with only 5" of snow but I sat on the front porch listening to tree branches snapping all over the place. You could also hear the power lines surging as branches leaned on them. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. They ran all new insulated power lines on our road 2 years ago and it appears to have paid off as we never lost power. There's a lot of debris to clean up but seeing a convertible under 17" of snow reminds me of having my 69 Camaro conv at college in Rochester NY. Those floating weights in the corners actually helped with traction in the snow. I never got stuck anywhere. It's just hard to believe I was out in the boat and walking around in the water past my knees last Sunday and shoveling snow this Sunday!
