Re: Best protective wax or coating for cadmium plated
The Fluid Film did a great job and it took off minor rust discoloration on several black phosphate parts. It brought a nice sheen back to all the cad parts.
I never checked into the other brands but Fluid Film does not swell rubber parts or hurt paint, plastic and decals as some do. FF was originally developed by John Deere or Caterpillar for equipment during shipping. Both companies use it by spraying the entire piece of equipment before shipping overseas or when shipping on winter roads so salt does not corrode all the cad parts. |

Re: Best protective wax or coating for cadmium plated
Would it be too simple to just spray a light coating of satin clear on freshly cad plated parts?

Re: Best protective wax or coating for cadmium plated
I'm a Fluid Film dealer (small time albeit) and do stock the popular aeresol cans. I have not checked into shipping them ground freight, but afraid of the cost ???
If anyone wants me to persue it, I may do so Thanks |

Verne </div></div> Verne, you have to be careful. Clear will often change the cad plating and wash out the rainbow effect turning it to an overall gold appearance. In my experience, clear does not last on bare metal parts for very long. |
