In looking for reproduction tags to put on the springs, but I can't find any that match the original tag. The reproduction tags that I've found have a purple background, with black lettering, and use a different font style. Does anyone out there have any idea where I might be able to find a correct reproduction?

I might be able to make one for you. The trick is to get the color matched. Some of the larger book stores have a pantone color reference. I would need to know what the closest color number is. This would be easy, provided you are not in a rush. Day job and all that.

Yes, I do remember wayback when we chatted. I've been away from the hobby for a while, putting the cars a bit on the back burner while we built a new custom home and got settled in. It's been a big distraction for quite a while.

15 years? Wow, time flies. Do you still have your car?

The thing that I'm wondering about is if the Van Nuys plant may have used different spring part numbers than Norwood did, which might explain the difference in the tag color scheme. I'm not clear if the YG spring was unique to Van Nuys because of the extra weight of the smog system that was on Van Nuys-built L78 Camaros.

There aren't many of the Ven Nuys built '67 L78 Camaros around, so the information on the Van Nuys specific stuff is pretty few and far between. </div></div>

I believe your car came equipped with the standard F40 suspension and therefore was built with the YG springs. If it was equipped with the optional F41 it would have the YJ springs. Below is a chart from the assembly manual that substantiates this info.

Correct, the car does not have F41 suspension, just the standard big block SS parts, so it seems that the YG code tag is correct for the front springs. There are no indications prior to me going through the front suspension that the springs had been messed with, so I'm pretty sure they are the originals.

Perhaps while the spring part numbers might have been the same between Van Nuys and Norwood (which makes sense), maybe the Van Nuys plant had a different supplier for the tags, and that might explain the color difference.

It is interesting to note that the scan of the parts document page says that the tag is &quot;Black print on Red&quot;. Just adds to the confusion..

One thing about standards...they rarely are.
