Re: Odd 67 Dana Camaro photo ...
Saw that there was no site linked to the domain and hoped someone had picked up the registry, if not I would pay just to keep some fool from jacking it.

Re: Odd 67 Dana Camaro photo ...
Jon,
I was the one who posted the foto up on the Uk forum, good to see the car is still around and being used. If you speak to the owner could you ask him if he would like the original foto, i think it should go with the car as part of its history. cheers si |
Re: Odd 67 Dana Camaro photo ...
Si,
That is very generous of you to offer to do that. I'm sure he would love to have it. Together, we have looked for years trying to find a picture of the car from the '67 Sebring era showing the Dana Chevrolet painted on the rear quarter. We were told by the original builder of the car (Bobby Joe McDonald) that it was on there but had no photographic proof. I saw on the Rods & Sods website that you mentioned something about the car having an induction set-up that was a Dana item. Do you have another picture of the car or were you gathering this from something you see in the original picture you posted? -Jon |

Sorry about all the questions, really interesting car. JB </div></div> The car is in California. It is a white car and has been registered and accepted as a Historic Trans-Am racer (West Coast eligible). According to Bobby Joe McDonald, the original builder, this white car and Guldstrand's blue car were both SS350s that they took off the Dana lot and converted into Z-28s by having Traco build 302 engines for them. The car is undergoing a restoration and has not yet been finished. A fairly recent picture is below. -Jon http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...afterpaint.jpg |

Re: Odd 67 Dana Camaro photo ...
I remember reading that after they were converted to SCCA specs for the Trans-Am series, 2 were sent to Ron Tonkin in Portland, Oregon and 2 were kept by Dana.

Re: Odd 67 Dana Camaro photo ...
What a neat piece of history. Thanks for sharing.
I had a new Z/28 back in '72 and used to hang around in the service area trying to maintain what little cool I had while observing the incredible cars coming and going. I lived a little too close by at the time, and it the worst tease imaginable, well maybe not the worst. JB |
