Re: Corvette Rally Wheel Restoration
Here's a few pix of one of the wheels. These were taken off a new '70 before it left the dealership. The owner opted for some 8" & 10" Ansen slots and M/T tires. He was killed in a railroad accident less than a year later and through a 'friend of a friend' connection I got the tires & wheels from his wife. The tires ended up on another Corvette a couple of years later and the wheels, caps, trim rings and OE lugnuts have been in my garage since around 1972. The lighting wasn't exactly optimal last evening so I placed a can of Krylon Silver next to the wheel for comparison. Honestly I didn't see much of the green tint that I had expected.

Just one of the factory flaws you might want to duplicate. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/DSCF1380.jpg Some of the overspray on the back side. I had to wash some dust off the wheel and it wasnt completely dry when I took these shots. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/DSCF1382.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/DSCF1383.jpg And some 'blow-through' at the valve stem hole. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/DSCF1386.jpg If you would like any more shots just give me a shout. |
