Steve, do you mean to say just in the B bodies? I have owned 2 E bodies (cudas) with the "U" code 440 ci 4 barrel.

Only applies to Road Runners in 1970.

Interesting I did not know that. I have had some b bodies, but I have not had a Road Runner.

If you spot a 70 Road Runner with a "U" engine code (I.E. RM23U0), it's a 'Bird.

But there are Hemi superbirds that were converted back to Roadrunners, they have the R-code.

One lucky guy over here found out that it wasn't just an ordinary Hemi roadrunner he had, it was a Superbird. Telltale was of course the rearwindow and the rearwing reinforcements in the rear quarters.

Car is in its final moments of restoration and should be ready for next summer.

You're reading way too much into this. He was just giving a heads up for people. What he is saying is that since the 440 4bbl was not avail in a RM23 Roadrunner, if you find an RM23 Roadrunner with a U engine code in the VIN, it was originally a Superbird because there were no 440 4bbl Roadrunners except for the RM23U Roadrunner Superbirds.

Your buddy's car must have been a heck of a find. Not only a Superbird but a hemi, too. Was it found over there or in the states and shipped over?

It was one of many musclecars that ended up here in the mid 70's, and it came here as a Hemi Roadrunner. It was many years later that the owner of it then made the discovery.
After many years of restoration it is now a Superbird again. It has been a lot of hassle to find parts for it, especially the nose.

That would be one de-winged Superbird.
