That is what I thought too. Plates would look better in a 40 year old patina, not brand new! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

They look plenty old with the lettering and light scratches. But the white is yellow and would look 100 times better if it was not as yellow....I can deal with a little.

I will try the clay to see what that does. Thanks again!!

If you want, send them to me, I'll clean them for free and send them back.

Dan,
Thank you so much for the offer!!!!
Last night I used the clay bar and some light 3M compound and got them looking a whole lot better. I think if I go over them a few more times I may be good to go.

But if I can't get them looking any better I will take you up on your offer https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

I am not sure if your state plate has a reflectorized coating as the 'white' background (1970)?
Washington plates went reflectorized- white background in 68. When I tried to 'clean up' the yellowish aged plates no real chemical or mechanical means, was found that effectively produced great results.

P.S. The biggest problem here is cleaning off the MOSS & Slime from the plates, it is amazing we do not have barnacles on em!
