Re: Thanks Verne & Tom
Cool old boats Vern, amazing how light they feal at the wheel when running, I had a pretty close twin to yours last summer, run a dose of sea foam through it 2oz per gal to free up the rings it will run much better after a few gallons , https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Cool boat Verne. Love that sparkly steering wheel...or is that consider a tiller?
Hey speaking of tillers, Verne if you grew the mustache into a Fu Machu, you could be "a tiller, the Hun." https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif I'll be here all week ladies and gentlemen, remember to tip your waitresses and try the veal. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: Thanks Verne & Tom
How long was it sitting before you put it in the water? The first time I swelled my barrel back, it took almost a weeks. It scared me until an old timer taught me that thats normal.

Re: Thanks Verne & Tom
I think it was out of the water for about a year. The leak slowed down after about 30min on the water but it was still coming in. I need to crawl under it and see if anything is soft. It could use sealer and paint at least. All the finishes are original. It's a wonder they lasted as well as they did.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Re: Thanks Verne & Tom
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif The last wooden boat I had I would put about 6-8" of water in it a few weeks before launching, that would help swell up the seams. I learned that the hard way. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
If you keep the boat on a trailer thats the way to do it, Keep it wet. |
