How long did you own it and where did you race at? Dave L. SoCal [/ QUOTE ] I had it from '68 - '70, it developed a nasty habit of ripping the trailing arms off the bottom of the car which would then cause the trans cross member to tear off the frame. I'd go for the shifter and it would barely be sticking out of the console! I raced it at Islip and West Hampton, and Connecting Hwy, 150th St & the Conduit and about 100 different lights throughout Nassau County! |
Re: What class would a 66 427/425 Biscayne have run in
Norm Fryer's 007. Bill Izkowski and a local home town favorite was The Pied Piper (Valerio Bros.) with help from Grump, also ran in B/Stick. I think the 427 Fairlanes and Mopars ran in A/Stock back then. Slicks, headers, air bags gauges a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and a super tune (balanced, clearanced with some head, carb and distributor work was about all you did or needed back then. Don't forget the Cragars! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

I've posted these before but ... a buddy owned this L72 4spd coupe back in 84/85 , N50's , glass bumpers , headers and tunnel ram iirc it ran high 12's . It's back in the US now being restored.

I have a 66 Biscayne 427/425 Biscayne and would like to know what class it would have been in in 1966. I have had mixed opinions and thought I'd turn to the experts on the SYC. Thanks in advance, Dave L. SoCal [/ QUOTE ] My original NHRA class guide shows 8.56 for Stock and 8.66 for Super Stock...I didn't bring any rule books with me to Michigan, so someone with a '66 book handy can chime with what class those factors fall into. |
Re: What class would a 66 427/425 Biscayne have run in
I don't have the NHRA books but here's what I found in the 1969 AHRA Rule Book.
Formula/Showroom Stock Class: B/S B/SA Hot Rod Division: Single 4 Bbl puts you in Formula 2 and Multiple Carbs/Factory FI/Factory Supercharged bumped you up to Formula 1. The 8.56/8.66 factor puts you in C/HR. The 1967 AHRA Rule Book shows the following: Showroom Stock: A/S A/SA Factory Production: FP/DS Formula 2 Hot Rod: B/HR Modified Production: B/MP Sorry but I don't have a 1966 book. |

What is the deal with the crunched car next to yours in the first picture?

Jason,
That is actually Dog427435's car and maybe he can answer your question. Dave L. SoCal |

[/ QUOTE ] Ok, had a chance to grab my '66 rule book...woulda been in A/Stock (7.00-8.69). I forgot there wasn't a Super/Stock class per se *yet*, so the 8.56 factor would've been the one you'd have used in '66... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Jason [/ QUOTE ] That was a mint SS I had sold to a friend of mine - he ran a red light and was tagged on both sides!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif We flat towed my car to the track with it that day. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...oreSS/66c7.jpg |
